Southern Oregon Grape Symposium

Organized by Oregon State University in conjunction with the Rogue Valley Winegrowers Association, the Southern Oregon Grape Symposium is the premier educational event for the wine industry in Southern Oregon. This year’s all day event will feature seminars by renowned academics working in the fields of viticulture and enology at OSU, WSU, and UC Davis. There will also be a grower-led panel discussion on labor and vineyard economics, along with a tasting of experimental wines made from area research trials.

Program:

Morning Seminars: Dr. Glenn McGourty (UCCE- Mendocino), Dr. Patty Skinkis (OSU), Dr. Bhaskar Bondada (WSU), Dr. Elizabeth Tomasino (OSU)

Afternoon: Industry panel on labor and mechanization: Michael Moore (QRV), Geoff Hall (Argyle), Joey Meyers (Vinetenders)

Spanish session: Basics of grapevine pathology: Dr. Luisa Santamaria (OSU)

At the end: tasting of research wines (Measures for Dealing with Red Blotch) from Alex Levin's and Achala KC's work at the DeBoer Ranch with QRV.
